Exploring The World Of Millets With Crazy Kadchi

Millets the latest category of superfood, as approved by the West had traditionally been a part of staple food in many regional cuisines but were considered as fodder food by many. Now when the world is waking up to a new era of wholesome, nutritious and ‘real’ food, millets are the new fad. Thankfully few varieties of millets like sorghum (Jowar), Bajra, Samo etc are part of traditional Sindhi cuisine and we have been relishing these in the form of patted flatbreads (Doda/Dodoh), porridge (Samo porridge known as Kirng in Sindhi), for cooking Satvik meals using Sauri (Bagar/Barnyard) for Gyaaras…

    Palli~Tender Chickpea Leaves

A bit late to share a recipe of a seasonal delicacy, the Palli leaves or tender leaves of Chickpeas but then it is better late than never! The season is over but I am still sharing this post as I don’t want this one to become yet another ‘draft post’ waiting for an appropriate time to share it. Every winter season the elderly in the family would get nostalgic about the Palli and dodoh (patted jowar/riceflour/bajra roti) but I never got a chance to cook or taste palli considering that the greens are available only for a short period of…

A Tribute To My Foodie Father

I really miss sharing good and bad, happy and sad moments of my life with the readers and followers of this blog of mine but when the times are bad, one feels too vulnerable to open up and pour the heart out to the people he or she is not well acquainted with. Thanks to my blog, I have met many amazing people, online as well as offline, often discussing at length, the nitty-gritties of Sindhi cuisine and…

    SindhiRasoi Turns 10!

Gulbeda~ Tiny biscuits with royal icing!   Yes!! SindhiRasoi is now 10 years old! A decade ago, around this time, I compiled few recipes from Sindhi cuisine, using notepad as a medium to write each recipe and waited for a weekend to arrive so that my busy hubby would click the food pictures using his point and shoot camera, transfer the digital images on his computer, edit and watermark each one, and teach me how to write and publish a post online. This went on for few weeks and then I gradually learnt how to do things on my…

    Chembur~Sindhi Food Heaven

Chembur, a place where my mother was born and brought up, obviously holds a very special place in my heart. I have many fond memories of the times when our school holidays were all about visiting our naani’s home and being pampered by grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. During Ganpati festival, my maasi (Mother’s sister), aunts, cousins and few people from their neighborhood would take us out for pandal hopping, post dinner. Starting from small pandals in close vicinity we would visit distant ones, for Ganpati darshan, including the one in Rk studio with anticipation of spotting some bollywood celebrities…
