Poori or puri is deep fried puffed Indian breads relished with almost every vegetable side dish.
Ingredients
  • Whole Wheat flour 1 cup
  • Salt as per taste
  • Black pepper powder ¼ tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Oil for frying
Method
  1. Mix wheat flour, salt, black pepper powder, cumin seeds and knead a dough
  2. The dough should not be too hard or too soft
  3. Take a very small portion of this dough and roll it into small chapati (disc)
  4. Gently and carefully slide this poori in frying pan and the oil should be hot
  5. Light handed-ly keep on pressing the sides of poori  so that it puffs up (it's Fun!)
  6. Toss it and cook it on slow flame for just about 3-4 seconds or till the surface appears light brown
  7. Serve hot with papad or vegetable side dish, dal or curd
