Print Textured Vegetable Protein or Choti soyabean Tikki Prep time: 20 mins Cook time: 40 mins Total time: 1 hour Serves: 4-6 Textured vegetable protein stuffed potato tikki recipe Ingredients Potatoes 6-7 TVP (Choti soyabean) 50 gms Green chillies 4-5 Cumin seeds Bread slices5-6 Tomato (optional)-1 Salt as per taste Coriander powder 1 tsp Turmeric powder ½ tsp Garam masala powder ½ tsp Coriander leaves for garnishing Oil for frying Method Soak TVP in hot water for about half an hour. Rinse it and squeeze out all the water. In a pan put some oil and add cumin seeds, saute till light brown in colour Now add chopped tomato and fry.Tomato here could be substituted with fresh lemon juice, but in that case lemon juice should be added after TVP is cooked Add TVP, salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder and fry it further for about 2 minutes Add garam masala powder and mix well Let it cook for 2-3 min., till all the water is evaporated. Garnish with coriander leaves and let it cool Meanwhile boil the potatoes and peel them Mash potatoes, add salt and crumbled bread slices(grind bread slices in mixie along with green chillies) and mix it properly Take a small portion of this mixture and flat it on greased palm of your hand Put small amount of TVP mix. and roll it back to form a tikki Now either deep fry in hot oil or shallow fry in pan or griddle till golden brown Serve it with chutney or ketchup Note: In case of deep frying, first fry only one tikki, if it tends to crumble then either the oil is not sufficiently hot or you need to add more bread slices in potato mixture 2.2.1
