And yes, once a parent, always a parent, so even if the parents are not with us in the physical sense, they ought to be there, somewhere in the Universe, taking care of us, guiding us and reminding us to do well in our journey of life till we meet again!

Hey!! What a lovely n heart touching tribute to your father. My memories about the time we had with our father all rushed back. My sister n I grew up in a society largely dominated by sindhis. Our husbands are converted ncee that we are half sindhis and half Maharashtrians. 🙂 Your recipes remind me of the time that we went as nyanis to our “badi mummy”s home for so many of your festivals. Dear Alka,
My dad too was a very unconventional sindhi man, who would unhesitatingly help with the chores. A true foodie at heart who cooked some amazing dishes for us with utmost precision. While most people will do away with whatever ingredients are available, he wouldn’t mind walking upto the shop to buy all that is required to make his output perfect. Sunday was his day to create something special for us :).
These days it’s so easy to find recipes online and make almost anything and everything you crave for in your own kitchen. But back then it was not like this. If there is anything he had eaten outside and liked, he would recreate the same for us by trying to figure out the ingredients just by the taste of it.
Almost anything and everything he made was amazing and full of spices. Unfortunately he isn’t around anymore but his memories of all that he did for us shall stay with us forever.
